Advanced & Compliance
Advanced and compliance settings cover the regulatory and account-hygiene steps that keep your messaging deliverable and your account in good standing. The most important of these is registering to send SMS in the US. This page explains what to complete and why — it’s practical guidance, not legal advice.
Why A2P 10DLC registration matters
Section titled “Why A2P 10DLC registration matters”In the United States, carriers require businesses to register before sending application-to-person (A2P) text messages over standard 10-digit local numbers — a framework called 10DLC. Registration tells the carriers who you are and what kind of messages you send.
Without it, your texts are heavily filtered, throttled, or blocked outright. You may see messages marked as sent that never actually reach the recipient. Registration is what earns reliable delivery and higher throughput.
Brand and campaign registration
Section titled “Brand and campaign registration”A2P registration has two parts:
- Brand registration. You submit your business details — legal name, address, tax/EIN, website, and contact information — so the carriers can verify your organization.
- Campaign registration. You describe how you’ll use SMS (for example, customer care, appointment reminders, or marketing) and provide sample messages and your opt-in process.
Accuracy matters. The business details you register should match your real, public-facing business information, including the address in your Business Profile. Mismatched or vague submissions are a common cause of rejection and delay.
- Open Settings → Phone Numbers / Trust Center (or the compliance/registration area).
- Complete brand registration with your verified business details.
- Submit at least one campaign describing your messaging use case with sample messages.
- Wait for approval, then assign your registered numbers to the approved campaign.
Opt-in and consent
Section titled “Opt-in and consent”Reliable, compliant messaging depends on real consent. Make sure you’re collecting and recording permission to text your contacts — for example, through a checkbox on your forms with clear language about what they’re opting into. Honor opt-out requests (STOP) automatically and promptly. Clean consent practices protect both your deliverability and your reputation.
Data, privacy, and retention options
Section titled “Data, privacy, and retention options”The advanced area may also include account-hygiene and privacy controls, such as data retention preferences and other privacy-related toggles. Review these against how your business is expected to handle customer data, and set them deliberately rather than leaving them at defaults you haven’t examined.
Other advanced toggles
Section titled “Other advanced toggles”Advanced settings can include various account-level switches that change platform behavior. Treat them with care: read what each one does before enabling it, change one at a time, and confirm the effect before moving on. These settings often have account-wide impact.
A pre-launch checklist
Section titled “A pre-launch checklist”Before sending your first SMS campaign, confirm:
- Brand registration is submitted and approved.
- At least one campaign is approved and your numbers are assigned to it.
- Your forms collect clear SMS consent and opt-outs are honored.
- Your Business Profile details match what you registered.
